Tor A. Haugdahl is a PhD candidate at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), specializing in compiler optimizations for high-performance computing. His research focuses on contextual compiler optimizations for mathematical domain-specific languages (DSLs). In 2022, Haugdahl completed his master’s thesis on tuning floating-point performance for a large-scale numerical solver, laying the foundation for his current doctoral work. Haugdahl’s academic interests span the intersection of compiler design, high-performance computing, and domain-specific languages for mathematical applications.

As part of his PhD, he is involved in the Modelica Advanced Research COmpiler (MARCO) project. Recent advancements in the Modelica language have opened up for further optimization. Tor, being performance-aware, aims to nudge the MARCO project closer to the realm of HPC applications.

Jon Åby Bergquist earned his MSc in Computer Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), specializing in HPC, autotuning and geophysics. Prior to completing his master’s, Jon interned as a Software Engineer at Computas where he built projects using Google Bigquery. Following his MSc, he spent one year as a Software Engineer at NTNU IT where he worked on managing a dataflow service. Recently, Jon has returned to NTNU to pursue a PhD, focusing on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, High-Performance Computing, and Geophysical Forecasting.

Knut A Kirkhorn wrote his masters thesis on “BAT: A Benchmark Suite for Auto-Tuners” with the focus on developing BAT and tuning on an Nvidia DGX-2. This was later published as an article co-authored with Ingunn Sund and Jacob O. Torring. Since then, Knut has worked as a full-stack software developer in the prop tech company Kiona, which monitors and controls sensors in supermarkets and commercial buildings.
